ABOUT THE BRAND

Birrot was founded in Copenhagen in spring 2018 by Kyeongmin Kim and Seyoung Hong. Its name is derived from the Korean word birrot or therefore, to draw a process to its conclusion.

The studio has an appreciation of Scandinavian and Korean aesthetics and translates elements of each into its first womenswear collection.

The collection is stimulated by contemporary culture and emotional curiosity. The studio combines two different perspectives with a sense of wonder which together form an unexpected art.

Birrot designed our garments with technical fabrics, rich colours based on our own sophisticated aesthetic of Korea and Japanese pattern cutting skills which include precision and comfort of body.

Birrot’s collection explores the strength within delicate shapes. The minimalist attitude manages to stay structured and still convey precise elegancy.

The studio constantly continues to experiment with Korean materials in Birrot’s limited edition seasonal collections.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY

Fabric Sourcing:
For every collection, BIRROT works with trusted sourcing partners to source sustainable fabrics for our collections - e.g. organic cotton fabrics mixed with recycled plastics for our stretch garment dresses. Additionally, BIRROT sources dead-stock fabrics from trusted European partners.

Production:
All garment production is conducted at one partner production facility with focus on proper working and payment conditions for workers, fair salaries and overall good conditions. The production conditions are inspected daily by BIRROT as we take part in the production cycle and make unannounced visits to the facility outside of our production window.

Transportation:
We personally bring our collections to Denmark via Co2-compensated flights and cargo methods.

Quality:
We believe that the greatest point of impact on our sustainability agenda is the high durability and quality of our garments. With high quality materials, strong stitching, and overall durability of our garments, we aim to produce items that are wearable for decades - outliving any fast-fashion items by half a lifetime. Sustainability also comes from creating items that are timeless and elegant, which insure a lifetime of use.

Sustainability is woven into our overall brand strategy - from the early stages of sourcing and production to the decade-long lifecycle of our produced garments.
